Art Museum

The pieces of art I found most intriguing were the abstract paintings. One of them was black and white and a little gray in it. Another was a painting by Jackson Pollock which was just a splatter of paint in many different forms. These paintings were a few of my favorite because there was no right or wrong interpretation, unlike the normal paintings of their day.
One of the pieces I disliked the most was the sculpture that was being played in real time on an old TV. The sculpture was good but why was it being played in real time? Seeing it on a TV gave me the impression that the artist might have run out of ideas.
The piece that caught my eye the most was the piece by Claes Oldenburg titled “Sandwich”. It is an oversized sculpture of a sandwich cut in half, diagonally. I liked this piece not only because of its simplicity and originality but because you can put anything you like between two (or more) pieces of bread and call it some kind of sandwich. Depending on how high you stack it, a sandwich can be a meal or a snack.
Since our tour was shorter and faster than most others we kind of breezed through the gallery. The way we got to see certain types of art change throughout history was different but also a good experience. We did miss a few sections of the gallery so it would be nice to one day visit all the rooms, other than that I had enjoyed the tour and art at the museum.
