The images we viewed in class today were astonishing. Retouching images is like changing the truth, when the image is retouched to portray something comical I don't feel that there's anything wrong with it, but when they take take an image that is historical and edit it to change your perception I have problems with that. The image we viewed of O.J. Simpson on the cover of Time magazine versus his image on Newsweek portrays two different individuals.
The Newsweek cover has the image of O.J.'s mug shot as it was originally they didn't try to sway our emotions in any particular way, it was just O.J..
The image in the Times on the other hand was retouched to give the feeling of gilt. O.J.'s face is edited to the point where dark shadows overly his face, it gives the impression that O.J. is evil and that he is indeed guilty (even though we all knew that he was).
