Retouching Not Touching

The lecture in today's class was enlightening. When the picture of the "cover girl" was retouched, she didn't look like the same person. It makes you question what is real and what is not. Are before and after photos for weight loss real? "Only her hairdresser knows" would now read only her retouched knows.

In the fifties, there was a big controversy about the model on the cover of the magazine "Redbook." It's competitor "Cosmopolitan" accused "Redbook" of a fashion error because the girl on the cover had a face that was not symmetrical. Of coarse no one has a face where the left side perfectly matches the right side. The controversy went on for months, (I trust selling lots of magazines too!) In today's modern age of technology this would not be a problem. We've come a long way Baby!
