Carnegie Museum of Art

The Carnegie Museum of Art is such a wonderful and great opportunity to learn about the art world. Each piece in the museum has very many unique aspects. All the pieces tell a story and are very interesting to look at. The museum is very large, and is very popular around this area. There are many styles, eras and different forms of art collections throughout the museum.

For example my favorite collection was the abstract art. Abstract art uses shapes, color and lines to create a composition which make these forms of art different from other art forms in the world.We went in a exhibit with different abstract art on the walls by various artists and a modem hanging from the ceiling. There was also a futuristic chair in the room as well that really caught my eye. The chair was made by the artist Louis Dierra. The chair is made of all glass with a fiber glass fabric. In the 1920s and 1930s, modern design was often associated with the use of new, improved, or non-traditional materials. This piece was made in the past but it looks like something that would be in the future years to come.

We also looked at other types of art, such as the portrait of Andy Warhol. I didn't really understand this picture. Its so famous, but why? Anyone can take a picture of themselves like that. In this large self-portrait, Andy Warhol wears a silver wig, with a pale, confused look on his face. This work is based on a Polaroid photograph that the artist enlarged and then the screen is printed on canvas. Our tour guide explained that this picture was sold in series, she claimed that he manipulated the same image by using vibrant colors , the process seemed very interesting as she explained it.

Overall I learned a lot about the art world after visiting the Carnegie Museum of Art. I would love to go back and spend more time there. The artists featured in this museum are very talented. All the art pieces tell their own story. This was such a great experience and I can't wait to go back and see more art exhibits.
