Martin Weber constructed a series of depictions of latin american dreams. Some of the peices, in my opinion, were not hust dreams, but statements, questions, facts, etc... One of the peices that caught my attention was, "that they return the remains of my son Jose Luis Olivo Cardena, victim of the paras, San Onofre, Colombia." This peice was intense to say the least. The paramilitary was an intense society that recruited youth and would permit them to prosper in their lifes. As a result a lot of families have a peice of their life missing due to deaths and recruitments.
The family in the picture is standing outside and it looks like a destitute neighborhood. The person holding the sign is obviously the mother of the clan. You have sympathy for the family because you could almost communicate with them due to their facial expressions. It looks like the boy in the middle of the picture is holding what seems to be intestines, or some sort of organ, maybe of an animal. I think this is symbolic because the title is asking for the REMAINS of her son. This picture caught my attention because my father was in the military and i remember days questioning his return to my house...
