Silver Eye Trip

The photo that stood out for me at silver eye was one taken by the featured artist Martin Weber. The photo is that of a girl who looks to be 12 or 13, her facial expression leads me to believe she isn't happy with her situation. The chalkboard she is holding states that her dream is for her parents smile again. The background of the picture is a Colombian Ghetto, which reminded me of Bad Boys 2 when Will Smith takes H2 through the homes that sit on terraces.

The first thought that came to mind after seeing her dream, was that perhaps her family is leading a life that they don't like and can't get out of, I saw on a National Geographic special that Colombia is responsible for 90% of the global cocaine processing. That is a staggering number and in a country with no real substantial industry people are forced to work for Colombian drug cartels. This is the image I received almost instantly after looking at the photograph, we sometimes take for granted living in a world with limitless opportunities, and here is a girl who from the look of it doesn't have much and the her dream is only to see her parents smile once again.
