"temptation of Saint Anthony" by Salvador Dali

I chose to do Salvador Dali's, "Temptation." The first things that caught my attention were the anatomies of the animals. The horses and elephants legs are vastly disproportional to the rest of their bodies. They are extremely long in length. The second thing that caught my attention was that there was a white horse, who seemed like was leading the group, about to stomp on a bystander. This bystander is holding a cross, perhaps for protection against the overbearing creature.

I also think that this peice is full of religious satire. For one thing, there are elephants roaming the area, as well as a horse. Elephants are one of the symbols fo asian/eastern religions. the title of the peice also gave away the notion that t was regarding religion, "The temptation of Saint Anthony." Saint Anthony was well known for recovering lost things. "Saint anthony saint anthony, please come around, something is lost needs to be found." That is his famous quote, that people use to call upon him. I thought that it was ironic, because saint anthony was also in charged of taking care of horses and a horse is trying to end saint anthony's life.

There are several items being held on the horses/elephants back, mostly shrines and what looks like places of worship... there are a lot of things that can be described about this peice, but there is only so much time...
