You said that in the painting there are silver paths leading to different colored hills, this description makes me think of how life's path can lead you to many opportunities in life depending on what you choose. You related the different hills to different neighborhoods. This reminds me of the discussion we just had in class about identifying with where your from. I think it's true that where you grow up, there are things that people from the community will identify with. Each community has their similarities and differences.
ReplyDeleteThe paintings have a common use of bright colors. The abstract buildings and bright colors may have been put there to draw your attention into different aspects of the painting.
I like how you related the painting to Mt. Washington. I think there are numerous parts of Pittsburgh that could match up. Even though a lot of places can be described as interesting and hilly, few provide the view of, and the view from Mt. Washington.
ReplyDeletePersonally the painting made me think of the Greenfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh. This neighborhood comes to mind because no matter what way your moving, or what street your on, your moving up or down a hill. All roads lead to the top, not to mention there is a nice view of downtown.
Being a Pittsburgh native myself I'm quite familiar with many of the things you talked about. I'm fairly sure I remember what the painting you're talking about looks like and you're right. It is the sort of thing that would inspire those sorts of memories.
ReplyDeleteBeing on the edge of the Allegheny Mountains Pittsburgh is not only a city of rivers its one of hills. Places like Mount Washington have always been some of the many tourist locations. I personally feel that the view from there is simply gorgeous.
